The Museum is committed to making available its collection to all members of the community, regardless of ability or their means of communication. We aim to provide a warm welcome and all museum volunteers offer a high standard of care and support to our visitors. We wish our visitors to leave us, having had a rewarding and pleasant experience.

Bearing in mind the Museum is on the first floor of an ancient listed building, which precludes any alteration to the structure we are committed to sharing our collection with all members of the general public and have devised the following procedures to this end:

  • We have the facility of a ground floor gallery with a large table. Any portable items including artefacts, photographs, and historical documents can be displayed by arrangement.
  • We have a dedicated computer to enable a significant part of our collection to be made generally available. This is in a downstairs gallery together wih some parish records and family histories.
  • We value the importance of outreach and have a successful loan scheme of resource boxes dedicated to educational projects for schools and reminiscence boxes for the elderly.
  • We have regular displays and events away from the museum which enable those with mobility issues to access aspects of our collection

Those who wish to use the museum's resources for specific research (eg for local history or a family tree) can contact the museum for assistance and information, either in person or by email.
